Project challenges
  • Adaptation of the electro spark wire cutter for ionizing radiation environments to enable high-precision cutting of sample metal materials
  • Modification of a vacuum annealing furnace for an ionizing radiation environment to allow long-term temperature experiments, either under vacuum or under a protective inert gas atmosphere
Scope

Fully mechanical master-slave remote controlled manipulators

  • Direct rod manipulators
  • Shielding windows from lead glass including frames
  • High cycle fatigue and fatigue crack preparation equipment with built-in high temperature test furnace (up to 900°C) and control unit.
  • Remotely (from the control room) and manually (in case of failure) controlled conveyor for the transfer of ZIZ between the existing semi-fabrication line and the newly built chamber
  • Active extraction in both semi-hot chambers
