The Land Remediation and Characterisation service specialises in the deployment of in-situ technologies and the provision of waste management consultancy to support both decommissioning and remediation projects. The technologies have been developed and optimised by NUVIA and include the High Resolution Assay Monitor (HIRAM), the Gamma Excavation Monitor (GEM) and Groundhog. Waste management consultancy incorporates Best Available Technique (BAT) assessments, waste management and sample plans, laboratory data interpretation and fingerprinting, and transport, Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), and Environmental Permit compliance.
We have a wide range of project experience from the nuclear sector to industries generating enhanced levels of naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) and historic sites used in the production and use of radium. Radiological characterisation challenges have led to a range of customised solutions, such as pipeline characterisation, bespoke deployments, the Information Management System for tracking and generating waste documentation, and the use of nuclear codes, such as Monte Carlo N-Particle to optimise modelling and improve our understanding.
