NUVIA is pleased to announce it has been awarded a major contract by Bruce Power for radiation protection services on Canada’s largest infrastructure project.
NUVIA’s local subsidiary based in Toronto will provide radiation protection services in support of all programs during execution of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) Unit 6 project. NUVIA will significantly contribute to Bruce Power’s nuclear power plant Life Extension Program, the largest infrastructure project in the country.
As part of the contract, NUVIA will provide core services to offer direct radiation protection assistance for assigned work. These services will be executed in support of all programs during the Unit 6 refurbishment where radiation protection is required, as well as other activities including licensed source handling, and the transfer and receipt of designated materials.
Earlier this year, NUVIA opened a new Radiological Protection Training Centre in Tiverton, and started training technicians in order to support Bruce Power.
“NUVIA has more than four decades’ experience training and developing Radiation Protection technicians, and an impressive track record when it comes to supporting the safe execution of programs like our Unit 6 major component replacement” commented Bruce Power President & CEO, Mike RENCHECK. “We’re pleased that NUVIA has joined as a partner in completing our Life Extension Program, which is creating and sustaining 22,000 highly-skilled jobs across Ontario, including Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, while delivering 30 per cent of Ontario’s electricity at 30 per cent less than the average cost to generate residential power.”
“Our clients’ most complex programs require outstanding safety performance, and we are delighted to have been selected by Bruce Power for this major radiation protection services project. Our consistent investments in people and technology innovation have enabled NUVIA to provide an unmatched level of radioprotection services. This important award will further strengthen our position as a key global partner for highly demanding industries that place regulatory requirements and safety at the top of their priorities” said Bruno LANCIA, Chief Executive Officer of NUVIA.
A subsidiary of VINCI Construction, NUVIA is a company acting worldwide and specialising in sensitive and highly regulated environments.
