Innovation at the service of rare skills!
Last December, IFCEN and NUVIA raised awareness of around twenty EDF ULM (Logistics and Maintenance Unit) employees at the Penly nuclear power plant about working in a polar bridge environment.
For the first time, this awareness training was carried out with our polar bridge driving simulator, the NuPolarDrive, a tool that makes it possible to train the performance of critical operations on the polar bridge in an immersive environment that simulates conditions identical to those in the reactor building. EDF employees were able to practice tank openings in pairs, with one person playing the role of the manoeuvre leader and the other the polar bridge operator. This allowed the operators to see the constraints from both points of view and to better understand these crucial operations during a unit shutdown.
This awareness module, delivered by a combination of IFCEN and NUVIA, can be delivered in different formats depending on the needs and number of learners. The mobile equipment means we can work in any location, as close to the activity as possible. We’ve had excellent feedback from the trainees!
We would like to thank Penly Nuclear Power Plant and EDF ULM, in particular Kevin BOURGET (Project Manager), for their confidence.
